It's something of a statement that all of the Arbinger Institute books are written by the team, not one person. However, the books are clearly written in a single voice, which in my opinion isn't a sign of an editing genius, but evidence that the book was actually written by one person.
The Arbinger Institute was founded by Dr. C. Terry Warner in 1979, who discovered that the key problem in leadership is self-deception. Since then, his company has consulted businesses and executives. I've heard that their program is rather intense, but their books changed my life.
Benefit
This book is a business parable - as are the other books that I've read - and it's quite remarkable. Warner teaches that the same qualities that make a poor CEO or manager affects the person's home life. In this book, he approaches business through a crisis at home... the main character realizes that the the same methods that he uses to solve the conflicts he has at home can be used to save his career. Solving the problem of self-deception is powerful, life-changing stuff -- it's mainly about realizing that as a leader, your problems begin and end with you. That is, if you're a manager of a sales team and it's doing poorly, it's your fault -- even if you're a sales genius and your team just won't listen... you take responsibility for your miscommunication.
